ATI Med-Surg Adaptive Quiz Reflection

Reflecting on my assessment of the Medical-Surgical ATI Adaptive Quiz, I would say that I improved in terms of some of my test taking strategies. I made sure to be sure to select only one answer and not change my answer once I selected one. I also only made one mistake of rushing through a question when I knew the correct answer but chose the incorrect one due to too little time spent. However, something I still need to work on is the average time spent on each question. While I made a mental note to slow down before beginning the exam, I still finished in the same average time spent per question of 23 seconds. I couldn’t believe it, it felt like I had spent more time before moving on. Apparently not thought. Something I wish was still a feature on these exams are the timers that used to be present. I feel if I had a visual for how long I spent on each question, I would mentally be aware to take my time. I need to make it a priority to look at the clock frequently to decipher how many questions I’ve gone through in a certain period of time. I know I need to really slow down, so I will try this technique on the next quiz. I was also interested to see that my percentile ranking was significantly lower than I thought it would be. I will definitely strive to try and improve my percentile ranking in future quizzes.

  1. Aaron, try using a timer on your smart phone or smart watch to help you slow down. Consistent use of the NurseLogic 2.0 priority-setting frameworks will help with both time per question and accuracy.
