Dissemination Project: Topic Proposal and Reflection

Reflection

The development of our topic was something we took very seriously because we wanted to pick a topic that had a lot of meaning and had the potential to help a lot of patients and nurses. I, personally, was pretty taken back when the clinical nurse educator told my group that readmission due to falls at home were a big issue she was seeing! It seems like such a simple topic to cover during discharge, but apparently some wires are being crossed. We knew that there would be a lot of information regarding safety at home because the CNE also told us that this was a hospital wide and nationwide issue with hospitals.

Our group teamwork dynamic was very efficient, and we all worked together to ensure that all areas of our topic proposal were in line with what each of individually had in mind. If one of us needed help finding information or filling out an assigned section, none of us hesitated to jump into action and help them out. I believe this benefited us all because we were all critical players in crafting the proposal as a whole, not just our assigned sections. Initially, we each researched two scholarly articles and then determined what would work as reference material and what would work as background information. We each “pitched” our article and agreed on information to pull from it to include in the proposal. There was an overwhelming amount of literature available on the topic; it made it very easy for us to keep narrowing down our result and still have a wide variety of options to chose from. Overall, our team works great together, and I wouldn’t change a thing with them!
