Peer Presentations

I really liked Meghan and Alysa’s presentation because they picked a topic of fascination I have. Seeing different murals whenever I travel is always intriguing to me since I like to find the meaning in things. Sometimes murals are just there for personal enjoyment and a laugh; but I’m really glad they dove into the meaning in this. So, yes, I believe their presentation lent me a new perspective because everyone has different opinions on murals and I’m always happy to take into account what they think of the piece. I don’t think that this challenged my thinking, but allowed me to step back and say, “Wow, I get that.” This presentation certainly inspired me, in an odd way. When Meghan was talking about how she loved the waves, it didn’t hit me that this was in Denver. I knew it was in Denver, but didn’t put the fact that Colorado is a land-locked state and the ocean together yet. Thus, it inspired me to think that while we tend to create art based on our surroundings, it is possible to think outside the box and do something that those around us do not expect. I like how these two chose to do an essay and present only with the picture. I believe this helped convey what they were trying to say because the picture was displayed the whole time and helped for us to understand what they were saying. I also believe that an essay best captured their feelings toward this and then led them to being able to engage with the class in person.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your reflections on Meghan and Alysa’s presentation. Your thoughts about waves in Denver may come in handy as you draft your final paper. We will be considering why people tend to gravitate to one manifestation of beauty over another. 3/3
