Global Editing vs. Local Editing

Global Editing vs. Local Editing

Not often in high school did we do peer editing. When we did, it was to find the weak points in our essay and look for grammatical errors. So, this was a completely new experience for me and I loved it. I learned new techniques of how to argue claims and back them up. I saw the other writers using the different ways to convey a point over. One relied heavily on visualization, but she did it in a way that made it feel natural in the essay, “This is great use of visualization here to further help readers to fully grasp your argument”. This showed me that it is possible for me to achieve and I was able to see how they incorporated it well. With another writer, I wrote, “great real-life example to reinforce your point.” She did a great job of stating her claim and asking us questions that pertained to everyday life today and helped me to better understand what exactly she was saying. The last writer, I wrote, “The transition here was unnoticeable. You flowed so naturally from TED to Southan and I didn’t even realize we were in the counter argument.” Just another technique I need to work on in order to make my essay better. Overall, this process was very enlightening and gave me a lot to think about in terms of making my own essay better and more interesting for the reader to read.
