About Me
Hi There! I’m Aaron Ahmed, and welcome to my portfolio. I am studying Nursing at the University of New England and cannot wait to become an RN. I’m originally from Dover, New Hampshire. My interests include traveling, working, volunteering, and movies. Traveling is more than an interest, however, it’s my one true passion. My dad was born and raised in Port Said, Egypt, so we’ve been back many times to visit extended family. Ever since then, I’ve become enthralled with how other people live, what their culture is like, and what they do that is different than that we do here in America. I also decided to take part in UNE’s study abroad program. I went to our Tangier, Morocco campus for the fall semester of my sophomore year. Let me tell you, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I was able to experience the world in ways I had no idea possible. Back home, I love to work. Currently, I work at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover as a Health Unit Coordinator. It was quite the learning curve, but finally being in a hospital setting made me feel at home. I’ve also previously worked as a Licensed Nurse’s Aide at a nursing home. It was a fantastic place to learn basic aide skills and become a better aide. Making a difference in peoples lives, big or small, is something I feed off. Seeing a smile on someone’s face that I’ve helped can make my day. I came to UNE for the great education they provide to nursing students. The way the program is set up is best for me as lecture with participation has always been a great tool in the learning process for myself. If you lecture me for a full hour, I’m probably not going to be one to retain that information very well. If you get me engaging with the information and talking about it with the professor; then I’m more likely to retain it. I’m currently wrapping up my time here in nursing school and beginning the transition to professional practice. I hope to continue what I’ve learned in school in my new job to help me become a great nurse. Nursing school only really dips your toe in the water, and I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for me. So, I hope you enjoy this blog about my adventures in nursing school, and feel free to ask questions about anything you see here!
